UNESCO International Conference
On 18-20 September Cork City will host the UNESCO International Conference on Learning Cities. The two previous conferences were held in Beijing 2013 and Mexico 2015, each involved over 600 delegates from countries worldwide. The conference will be presented by UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning, held in Cork City Hall, from Sept 18th – 20th 2017, supported by Cork City Council and Cork ETB hosted with its Learning City Project partners, UCC, CIT, and other agencies in the city.
Cork Oyster & Seafood Festival
Friday September 22nd – Sunday September 24th
The Cork Oyster & Seafood Festival festival, in its 5th year will be a celebration that will be centred in the Metropole but will also take place in other venues across Cork City. We will have live music, an exciting food trail and plenty of other aspects that will happen over the weekend.
Cork Comedy Fest is back this September and it’s even bigger and better this year! A fantastic line-up of comedy will take place at various venues around Cork city centre!
LEO Cork City schedules Autumn Programmes for Owners/Managers in the Micro Business Sector
The Local Enterprise Office, Cork City has a wide range of programmes and training courses on offer to assist those interested in starting a new business or those already in business including entrepreneurs, early stage promoters and small businesses looking to expand.
The Cork Folk Festival
The Cork Folk Festival 29th sept-2nd October is an annual music event that takes place in Ireland’s southern capitol, Cork. Performances take place in concert halls, music venues, in 30 bars and on the Streets. It features concerts with international, cutting edge and established artists plus lectures, workshops, children’s events, and traditional set dancing. The event has a strong focus on local Cork City, Sliabh Luachra and Cuil Aodha music and song so prepare for plenty of polkas, slides and harrier ballads.
Pitch’d – A Circus Arts Festival

Circus as an art form welcomes and needs cross discipline art forms to flourish within the contemporary performance arts sector. The aim of the festival is to educate artists and the public in what circus is, what it can be, and what Cork can offer to the world. Watch out for special workshops and events which will take over and transform our home down in the marina.
The Visegrad Film Festival
The Visegrad Film Festival in Cork, Ireland, is the first attempt of an intercultural dialogue between Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Ireland. The main goal of the project is to establish a regular presentation of Visegrad cinema in Ireland, especially Cork.
Evening Echo Women’s Mini Marathon
The race is run over four miles, starting at the city end of Centre Park Road at 1pm and taking in The Marina, Blackrock Village, Ballintemple, Maryville, Monahan Road and finishing in Kennedy Park. IT takes place this year on Sunday September 24th .
The Decades committee are planning this year’s event for the Friday 29th Saturday 30th of September.
The date will ensure a greater audience for the festival, with the summer holidays over, the colleges back and people back into a regular routine after the summer. This will ensure the Decades remains Ireland’s largest fancy dress party attracting consumer into participating licensed outlets to enjoy the music and giveaways in house.
Sounds from a Safe Harbour (14th -17th September) is a festival of music, art and conversation that will bring a huge international creative cast to Cork this September to celebrate the port city’s place on the world’s stage in a unique setting. It will be headlined by Bon Iver and The National.
Cork International Short Story Festival
The festival showcases readings, literary forums and workshops. It will be held this year in the Firkin Crane Theatre from the 13th– 16th September, 2017.
