Cork Cashes Out, the innovative pilot scheme launched last November by Cork City Centre Forum, has been recognized at the Contactless and Mobile Awards 2016. The innovative initiative aimed to promote cash-free payment options over cash in businesses in Cork city centre.
Cork Cashes Out was shortlisted in the ‘Contactless and Mobile City Initiative’ category and saw off competition from the UK, India and the Czech Republic to secure the top prize. The award, which honours the most ambitious and widespread initiative to implement mobile or contactless technology, was accepted by a delegation including Cork City Centre Forum representative and publican, Paul Montgomery and Pat Kierans and Ciarán Curran of H+A Marketing + PR. Also representing Cork Cashes Out were Erica McKinney, Banking & Payments Federation Ireland, Conor Healy, CEO Cork Chamber of Commerce and Aidan O’Riordan, Cork City Council.
