Work began in July on the refurbishment of Boole House. This is a collaboration between Cork City Council and UCC and the work is likely to take about nine months.
The North Main Street / Marsh area is steeped in history and has great significance for Cork City. Main Street (north and south) was the main street of the walled medieval city and the Marsh was one of Cork’s earliest developed urban extensions outside of the medieval city area.
Main Street (north and south) was the main street of the walled medieval city and the Marsh was one of Cork’s earliest suburbs first laid out between 1690 and 1750. The area has a strong tradition of collective voice through the Marsh’s Residents Association and the North Main Street Traders group. Other active groups include Reimagine Cork and Quarter Block Party.
